Delivery Methods and Charges

1. Delivery service. It can be UPS (for large quantities of products) or the company's own delivery trucks (like how Amway has their own fleet of delivery trucks). This can mean that there will be an extra charge for having the stuff delivered to your doorstep, and the amount of extra cost will defer from business to business. For example, Amway is a direct-selling company that very strongly utilizes the Internet as a means to order their products, and Amway provides free delivery if your order exceeds RM300. Others might charge you extra depending on the amount of products purchased and how far away you stay from the seller's location.

2. Snail Mail. For small-scale, imperishable online purchases, most sellers would opt for sending it by express mail (PosLaju). The extra cost for this method varies depending on the product's size and weight. Of course, by using this method, your stuff should arrive within the week, and not within a day or two. Snail Mail is Snail Mail, after all.

3. Cash On Delivery (COD). Another method, especially for small-scale online purchases, is where the seller meets up with the buyer and they exchange the goods for cash on the spot. They usually meet at a common location that is easily accessible to both parties, like the McDonald's at the nearest shopping mall or something similiar. This can also apply for buyers who order products like handphones through sellers/suppliers. In this case, the buyers would be notified of when the product reaches the seller's store, and then the buyers would go collect.

For example, if I were to order a handphone from a seller online through lowyat.net, the seller would then notify me when the handphone has arrived in their shop, and then I might have to go to their shop personally to pay for my handphone.

That about wraps it up this week. What do you think about the delivery methods in Malaysia? Are there any ways we can improve this aspect of online shopping in Malaysia?

On stupid phone

My stupid, stupid handphone decided that his time on earth is over and that he needed to go to handphone heaven. And the said phone does not last for a year. What a waste of my money! I bought it because my old and most reliable Nokia N70 has lesser memory even with the memory card.

I wish I bought Nokia instead of Sony Ericsson.

But on the bright side of this whirl-wind SE handphone problem, my father dearest is going to buy me a new handphone. I might get Nokia or Samsung. I still don’t know but I’m gonna get the smart phone. Lol!

London and San Mateo, CA – April XX, 2009 – GetJar, the world’s leading independent app store, announced today that Nimbuzz, the most comprehensive VoIP, presence and IM provider, reached 10 million downloads on its network. Nimbuzz achieved this milestone through strong brand recognition, an award winning application design and by effectively using GetJar’s Pay-Per-Download service to gain prominent visibility and significantly increase its downloads.

“As consumer’s recognition and use of app stores to personalise their mobile begins to soar, gaining visibility within an extensive app store, filled with tens of thousands of apps, needless to say, is a challenge for companies in the mobile space. We have always looked for ways to differentiate our brand from competitors, and GetJar’s Pay-Per-Download (PPD) service presents an opportunity to do just that.” stated Evert Jaap Lugt, CEO of Nimbuzz. “GetJar is our top outside source to increase mobile downloads and using their PPD service has exponentially increased our download rate since we started working with them two years ago.”

blogging from my handphone

I lent my darling laptop away to another darling person, so that’s why the lack of updates! Ops. I really miss my laptop. So here I am blogging with my handphone Wlan feature. Technology is freaking awesome. it’s 6am, and I haven’t slept a wink! Beat that! Woot. my biological clock is screwed so bad. and my mind now screams: nus, smu, nus, smu, nus, smu.. Haha.. I will decide tmr.. I’m never someone who does things super instantly. I procrastinate till I deem fit. I wonder if it’s an act of being cautious, or just a refusal to committing to a decision. Or Both. I think more of the latter.. Cos when I make a decision, I usually stay committed to it.. But before that, I must be darn darn sure I want it so darn badly, I’d be committed. I’d hate backing out. Hmmm, so the contemplation period for me takes pretty long. Oh, I very surprisingly managed to figured myself out.. And you all very much just read a post that I’m texting at 630+am, delirious state of mind, and pretty much talking to myself..
